  • The Phlebotomy Supervisor functions as a laboratory professional who assumes responsibility of leading the Phlebotomy laboratory department.
  • With direct oversight of staff who perform specimen collection duties.
  • This position also oversees training, competencies, scheduling, and operations within the phlebotomy department.
  • At times this role might be expected to perform specimen collections based on the hospital/laboratory need; venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction and specimen culture collection instruction as assigned by their supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinical rotations or previous phlebotomy experience
  • Certification from nationally recognized agency in Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory Assistant, Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Clinical laboratory experience as a Phlebotomist, Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician within a clinical laboratory

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician with knowledge of phlebotomy practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science
  • Five (5) or more years as a phlebotomist or in a technical laboratory position
  • BLS
