We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Product Management, Payroll to join our People Team. This role can be located in New York, NY.
Own the payroll product strategy by defining and delivering the digital product vision for payroll experiences and capabilities across domestic and international payroll processes, including pay administration, controls, compliance, and colleague support Lead payroll transformation initiatives by identifying opportunities to simplify, standardize, and modernize payroll operations, reducing manual effort and improving accuracy, timeliness, and employee experience Build and scale payroll products by owning roadmap, prioritization, and delivery for payroll capabilities that support a complex global workforce across multiple countries, jurisdictions, and operating models Enable operational excellence by partnering with Payroll, HR, Finance, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and vendor teams to improve payroll workflows, controls, issue resolution, and service delivery Enable global consistency with local compliance by designing product solutions that balance standardized experiences with country-specific payroll requirements, statutory obligations, and regulatory considerations Use data and insights to improve outcomes by defining success metrics, monitoring payroll performance, and leveraging user feedback and operational data to continuously enhance products and processes
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
10+ years of experience in product management, payroll operations, payroll transformation, or enterprise platform leadership Deep experience with domestic and international payroll operations, processes, and controls, including multi-country payroll environments Experience building or enhancing enterprise payroll products, platforms, or operational workflows Strong understanding of global payroll regulations, compliance requirements, governance, and risk considerations Track record delivering complex, cross-functional transformation initiatives across HR, Finance, Technology, and Operations Experience working with payroll technology, HR systems, vendor platforms, and service delivery models Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to align business process, technology strategy, control requirements, and colleague experience Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving delivery without direct authority Data-driven mindset with experience using metrics, service insights, and process analysis to inform product decisions
BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $130,000 and $240,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
