Job Description

Job Title: EHS Coordinator

Department: Environmental & Safety (E&S)

Reports to: E&S Leader

Supervises: N/A

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Non-Bargaining

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator serves as an extension of site leadership within an industrial manufacturing environment. This hands-on, onsite role is responsible for driving an injury-free and incident-free workplace through visible floor presence, effective coaching, disciplined execution of EHS management systems, and employee engagement.

The EHS Coordinator supports regulatory compliance, Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) risk reduction, Human Performance Improvement (HPI), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and environmental stewardship. The role partners closely with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate workplace risk.

This position requires daily engagement in the production environment and flexibility to support multiple shifts, including off-shifts as operational needs require.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Engagement



  • Lead by example in all aspects of Environmental, Health & Safety while reinforcing Owens Corning's safety-first culture.
  • Maintain regular onsite presence in an industrial manufacturing environment supporting 24-hour operations.
  • Coach supervisors and employees through floor engagement, safety observations, and proactive risk-based discussions.
  • Support site EHS goals and initiatives; act as a delegated decision-maker in the absence of the EHS Leader as required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
  • Coordinate EHS vendors, contractor activities, and procurement of EHS-related supplies and services.
  • Deliver effective EHS training for Roofing & Asphalt employees.



Safety & Risk Management



  • Maintain compliance with OSHA General Industry standards through audits, inspections, training, and corrective action tracking.
  • Lead Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention programs, including:


    • Lock/Tag/Try (LTT)
    • Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV)
    • Machine Guarding
    • Confined Space
    • Working at Heights
    • Electrical Safety
    • Hot Work


  • Serve as the site subject matter expert for hazardous energy control and Lock/Tag/Try programs.
  • Lead incident, injury, and near-miss investigations using root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Integrate Human Performance Improvement (HPI) principles into daily coaching and training.
  • Facilitate Safety Committee meetings and manage LMS safety training records.



Environmental Compliance



  • Support environmental permits and regulatory reporting related to air, water, stormwater, and spill prevention.
  • Maintain environmental compliance calendars, records, and required documentation.
  • Manage waste streams, recycling programs, and environmental service vendors.
  • Maintain Hazard Communication (GHS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) programs.



Occupational Health



  • Support industrial hygiene monitoring and exposure assessments.
  • Support hearing conservation and chemical exposure control programs.



SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS



  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions.
  • Manufacturing or industrial EHS experience preferred.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



  • Associate degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Prior training facilitation or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Safety certifications such as OSHA 30, CHST, ASP, or CSP preferred.
