Job Summary The Data Center Superintendent leads structured cabling and low voltage installation projects within active data center and large-scale commercial environments. This role is responsible for supervising field operations, ensuring installations meet industry standards, and driving projects to completion on time and within scope. The position requires hands-on leadership, technical expertise in structured cabling systems, and the ability to coordinate teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders in mission-critical settings. Job Responsibilities

Lead daily field operations for structured cabling and low voltage projects in data center and commercial environments

Supervise and coordinate on-site teams, including technicians, foremen, and subcontractors

Review and interpret blueprints, installation plans, and scope documents to guide execution

Install, route, and terminate structured cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber
-
Oversee telecom room buildouts, including racks, ladder racks, backboards, patch panels, and cable management systems

Ensure all installations meet industry standards, including BICSI and TIA/EIA guidelines
-
Perform quality control checks on cable runs, terminations, labeling, and equipment installations
-
Troubleshoot cabling systems using testing tools and resolve installation issues
-
Coordinate daily activities with project managers, general contractors, and other trades
-
Enforce job site safety protocols and conduct regular safety meetings in compliance with OSHA standards

Manage materials and inventory on-site, including tracking usage and requesting additional supplies

Document completed work, update as-built drawings, and maintain accurate project records

Train and mentor junior technicians to improve technical skills and productivity

Communicate project progress, risks, and solutions to stakeholders in a professional manner
Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED
-
3 to 5 years of structured cabling installation experience
-
2 to 3 years of supervisory or lead experience on cabling or low voltage projects
-
Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber installations
-
Experience building and outfitting telecom rooms and data center infrastructure
-
Proficiency with cable termination, testing, and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Fluke testers, OTDR, punch-down tools, fiber splicing equipment)

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical documents
-
Understanding of industry standards such as BICSI and TIA/EIA
-
Experience coordinating with general contractors and multiple trades on active job sites

Knowledge of job site safety practices and OSHA compliance requirements

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, and remain on foot for extended periods
Work Experience

Experience working in data center environments and large-scale commercial construction projects

Hands-on experience managing structured cabling installations from start to completion

Experience with project documentation, including as-built drawings, labeling, and daily reporting
