Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for theDukeDepartment of Obstetrics and Gynecology - Harris & Smith OB-GYN with clinic locations in Durham, NC.The APP will work in collaboration with attending physicians and APPsproviding direct patient care, performing consultations, collecting and documenting data, assisting in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and ordering and scheduling laboratory studies.

Job Hours

Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, however, flexibility in scheduling is expected and may be required, based on clinical needs, patient volumes, access initiatives, or operational requirements. Hours may include extended morning or evenings (i.e., before 8am or after 5pm) and/or weekends.

Experience

Prefer 1+ years of work experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Women's Health. Or, if a new NP or PA graduate, OB-GYN clinical rotations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Obstetric and Postpartum Care

Will provide obstetric care to prenatal patients from the new obstetric visit throughout pregnancy including the postpartum visit as follows:



  • Performance of the new obstetric exam with identification of problems complicating pregnancy or pre-existent to pregnancy.
  • Initiation of plan of care/diagnostic testing/interpretation of labs/treatment plan based on individual patient medical/surgical history.
  • Patient education relating to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care.
  • Performance of FHR assessment, NST interpretation, pelvic exams for antepartum and labor assessment and triage patients.


Gynecological Care

Will be responsible for management of gynecological patients for routine care and/or treatment of common gynecological problems including but not limited to:



  • All methods of family planning and counseling for reproductive life planning.
  • Routine Well Woman Exams and Pap Smears.
  • Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections.
  • Treatment for symptoms of Menopause/perimenopause.
  • Postmenopausal bleeding
  • Breast changes or masses
  • Pelvic/abdominal pain
  • Dysfunctional uterine bleeding
  • Routine Postoperative follow up and problem visits.



Job Eligibility Requirements

Education



  • Nurse Practitioners:Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants:Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.



Certification



  • BLS required.



License



  • Nurse Practitioners:Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. National certification as a NP required.
  • Physician Assistants:Must be licensed in the state of NC and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • DEA license required.
