Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering

Job Description

This is a teaching-focused position with an expected teaching load of four courses per semester, with additional contributions to curriculum development, student mentoring, and applied,project based learning. The successful candidate will help deliver courses such as:

  • ENG MGT 2211 Engineering Accounting and Finance (fundamentals of accounting/finance for technical enterprises; financial decision tools)
  • ENG MGT 3510 Marketing Management (marketing in the technological enterprise: product development, market research, channels, advertising, strategy)
  • ENG MGT 6211 Advanced Financial Management (financial organization/management, funding, budgeting, reserves/dividends; systems approach)
  • ENG MGT 6213 Financial Engineering (derivatives, forwards/futures, swaps, options, binomial & Black-Scholes valuation, Greeks, volatility)

An expectation for this hire is the ability to teach using AI in business and engineering contexts. The candidate should be prepared to (1) integrate appropriate AI-enabled tools into course delivery (e.g., forecasting tools, decision support systems, and responsible use of generative AI), and (2) teach students how to use AI effectively and ethically in finance, accounting, and marketing in areas such as AI-supported financial analysis, forecasting, risk assessment, market research, and decision-making under uncertainty. The successful candidate will help students develop practical judgment: selecting the right AI tool for the task, validating outputs, communicating results, and understanding limitations, bias, privacy, and governance in professional settings. The faculty member will collaborate with departmental colleagues to ensure content remains current, industry-aligned, and connected to EMSE's broader mission of preparing graduates to lead digital transformation across engineering and technology-driven organizations. While the position is primarily instructional, participation in applied projects, industry collaboration, and curriculum innovation is encouraged.

In addition, the new NTT faculty member will have opportunities to collaborate with the new Jaggi School of Business within the Kummer College. The Jaggi School includes programs in Business and Management Systems and Information Science and Technology at the undergraduate, MBA, minor, graduate, and certificate levels, with a focus on technology-driven management and information systems. This creates natural possibilities for cross-disciplinary collaboration in curriculum development, student engagement, and educational initiatives that connect engineering, business, and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualtifications:

  • Terminal Degree in Engineering Managment, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience in finance, accounting, marketing, analytics, or technology-driven business environments.
  • Teaching experience at the university level (undergraduate and/or graduate), including evidence of effective intruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate data analytics and AI-enabled tools into teaching to train students in responsible, professional AI use.
  • Ability to contribute to course and curriculum development, including project-based and experiential learning.
