Overview & Position Summary

This position supports the Secondary Marketing function by executing lock desk activities that ensure accurate rate locking, pricing validation, and adherence to investor and company guidelines. This role works closely with internal partners to support timely lock transactions, resolve pricing discrepancies, and maintain data integrity across systems. This position contributes to the team's operational performance through detailed analysis, consistent documentation practices, and effective communication. This role also assists with routine inquiries and provides guidance to less experienced team members as needed.

Onsite preferred but remote candidates will be considered if they reside in one of the following states: Colorado, Florida, California, Washington, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, or Texas.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Process rate lock requests, ensuring accuracy and compliance with pricing guidelines, investor requirements, and internal policies.
  • Verify loan pricing, lock terms, and system data to ensure alignment with approved programs and market conditions.
  • Assist in resolving lock or pricing discrepancies by analyzing data, reviewing system inputs, and coordinating with internal partners.
  • Monitor lock expirations, extensions, and changes to ensure timely updates and adherence to established procedures.
  • Communicate lock confirmations, pricing details, and status updates to Loan Officers, Processors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all lock desk activities.
  • Support daily pricing updates, including importing and validating rate sheets or pricing feeds as assigned.
  • Identify recurring issues and escalate trends or concerns to leadership for further review.
  • Provide guidance to entry-level team members regarding lock desk processes and resources.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, service-focused environment within Secondary Marketing.

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent (e.g., 6-8 years)
  • Experience in secondary marketing, lock desk operations, mortgage pricing, or related consumer lending functions
  • Working knowledge of mortgage rate locks, pricing adjustments, and secondary market processes

Preferred:

  • Experience within a lock desk, pricing, or secondary marketing function.
  • Familiarity with investor guidelines, loan programs, and mortgage pricing concepts.
  • Experience with rate lock systems and loan origination platforms.

Skills & Competencies

  • Broad knowledge of mortgage pricing, loan programs, and secondary marketing processes.
  • Strong analytical and data review skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret pricing guidelines and apply program requirements accurately.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a time-sensitive, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with LOS platforms, pricing engines, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
  • Problem-solving skills for moderately difficult lock or pricing issues.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to accuracy, compliance, and service quality.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a general office or remote-office environment using computers, pricing engines, LOS systems, and communication tools. Workload may vary based on market volatility, rate changes, and lending volume. Limited travel may be required for meetings, training, or team activities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing pricing data and processing lock requests.
  • Frequent use of computers, spreadsheets, and communication platforms.
  • Ability to lift and carry light materials such as reports or office supplies.
  • Ability to move within office environments for collaboration or meetings.
  • Ability to maintain focus during detailed pricing or data verification tasks.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $65,000-$80,000
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
  • Bonus Type: Year-end Discretionary
