Summary
Join our Food & Nutrition Services team and play an important role in creating a positive dining experience for patients, visitors, and staff. As a Food Service Associate, you'll prepare and serve fresh meals, maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, and help ensure every meal is delivered with quality, care, and excellent customer service. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions Prepare food service areas, equipment, and supplies for daily operations while following food safety and sanitation standards. Assist with preparing a variety of hot and cold foods, beverages, salads, sandwiches, baked goods, and other menu items. Set up and maintain serving lines, ensuring food is presented attractively and held at proper temperatures. Serve meals with friendly, efficient customer service while ensuring accurate portion sizes and presentation. Transport food, beverages, and supplies safely throughout the facility using carts or other designated equipment. Restock serving stations with food, utensils, trays, dishes, glassware, and condiments throughout each shift. Monitor food quality, temperatures, and inventory, reporting or removing spoiled food and identifying equipment or supply concerns. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment by washing dishes, utensils, cookware, equipment, and work surfaces. Dispose of waste properly and follow all food safety, infection prevention, and sanitation guidelines. Work collaboratively with teammates to ensure efficient meal service for patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Experience Food service experience 2-3 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control. - Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions. - Ability to read and write. - Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. - Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies. - Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects. - Knowledge of food service lines set-up and temperature requirements. - Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods. - Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
