Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. This is an open rank position and based on experience and qualifications as indicated below. Initial rank is based upon knowledge, achievement, and experience, and with the opportunity for academic promotion based upon demonstrated, ongoing excellence in education, research, clinical care, and community service. Applicants must have a clinical, scholarly, and/or academic record consistent with each SDM Faculty appointment level in the School of Dental Medicine. Assistant Professor: * A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent * Completion of a CODA approved Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program * Eligibility for a Colorado dental license and board eligible in Pediatric Dentistry * At this rank, applicants will have some successful teaching experience and/or history of providing clinical care. Associate Professor: * A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent * Completion of a CODA approved Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program * Eligibility for a Colorado dental license and board eligible in Pediatric Dentistry * At this rank, applicants will be well qualified to teach and/or provide clinical care with considerable demonstrated evidence of successful teaching and demonstrated leadership and service. Preferred Qualifications: * The preferred candidate will have academic healthcare experience and a demonstrated commitment to working in a collaborative and multi-cultural environment; and must be committed to the highest standards of inclusive, ethical, and professional conduct. * Demonstrated previous academic experience mentoring/precepting students * Commitment to working with vulnerable and underserved populations. * Demonstrated leadership, organizational and communication skills * Graduate degree in a relevant and applicable are; Candidates with an additional doctoral degree, such as PhD, are encouraged to apply as well. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to dental medicine. * Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. * Thorough knowledge of current management and leadership methods and best practices. * Knowledge of professional standards, concepts and practices related to supervision. * Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws and regulations. * Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality while working with sensitive information. * Ability to take initiative with daily work activities and collaborates to create a positive effect on team performance. * The ideal candidate for this position will be a detail oriented, dedicated and professional individual. |
