Counselor, Access Programs, Part-time Adjunct Pool (IWV) Kern Community College District Salary: $60.00 Hourly Job Type: Temporary -- Adjuncts Job Number: FY25-2600372 Location: Ridgecrest, CA Department: Counseling (COUN) Below is our job description for this position. Basic Function Please Note: Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. This allows the division to contact qualified applicants immediately, if a need arises without having to wait for a period of time to advertise. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be contacted by respective department supervisors, deans, and/or division chairs. Submitted applications will remain active for up to 2 years. Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary range is $60.00/hour; the hourly rate may vary based on the type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For more information, refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or your college HR office. Representative Duties Adjunct counselors for Access programs provide dedicated support to students who participate in DSPS, EOPS, CARE, NextUp, and/or CalWORKS. Services are individualized based on the needs of the students. In addition to program-specific support, the adjunct counselor will provide non-instructional activities in academic advising, career guidance, and education and transfer planning. Minimum Qualifications Must meet minimum qualifications for both the Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS) & Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) as defined below: Counseling: EOPS Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development, or the equivalent. AND EOPS counselors hired after October 24, 1987, shall: (1) Have completed a minimum of nine semester units of college coursework predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social, or economic disadvantages; OR (2) Have completed six semester units or the equivalent of a college-level counseling practicum or counseling field-work courses in a community college EOPS program, or in a program dealing predominantly with ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages; AND In addition, an EOPS counselor hired after October 24, 1987, shall have two years of occupational experience in work relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social, or economic disadvantages. Counseling: DSPS Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling; OR counseling, guidance counseling, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, *marriage and family therapy or *marriage, family and child counseling; AND 15 or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework specifically related to people with disabilities: OR completion of six semester units, or the equivalent of a graduate-level counseling practicum or counseling field-work courses in a post-secondary DSPS program or in a program dealing predominantly or exclusively with people with disabilities; OR two years of full-time experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following:
OR - The equivalent. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions. Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administration in California Community Colleges AND - A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Note: Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an evaluation service. Note: The screening of candidates will be conducted by a screening committee. The screening committee reserves the right to limit the number of interviews granted.
