This ranked non-tenure track Assistant Research Professor of Neuroscience is a collaborative partnership between the UMKC School of Medicine and Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City (SLHKC). It is appointed to the Department of Biomedical Sciences. The successful candidate will have a key role in helping to expand our neuroscience program by adding research strengths in functionalized enzyme therapeutics and injured spinal cord regeneration and develop research projects for students interested in problems of spinal injury recovery. Major responsibilities include maintaining an active extramurally funded research program, mentoring the research projects of graduate and undergraduate health sciences and professional students, residents, and fellows. Although primary responsibilities will be research-related, there will be some accompanying teaching responsibilities with this research science appointment. The successful applicant will be expected to work in collaborative, interdisciplinary university and hospital research environments. Successful experience or demonstrated potential for mentoring research methodology to students and/or support for interdisciplinary neuroscience research projects, and success in obtaining extramural research funding are required. The expected initial distribution of work will be 70% Research and 30% service to the university and healthcare partners. Service includes serving on hospital, department, School of Medicine, or university committees. Qualifications
