Research Core Facilities Job Description
The Electron Microscopy Core (EMC) at the University of Missouri is seeking a Research Specialist Senior to support and advance its capabilities in both materials and biological sciences. This role focuses on enabling high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and volume electron microscopy studies across a wide range of samples, including metals, ceramics, polymers, semiconductors, and biological specimens such as tissues, cells, and purified proteins. The successful candidate is expected to have graduate level training with previous projects experience in a research lab setup. Understanding the scientific need from users is essential for this position. Frequent literature reading is required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Shift
Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. occasional nights and weekends Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess at least two years of practical research experience in electron microscopy, with demonstrated expertise in analyzing both materials and biological specimens. Previous experience in an Electron Microscopy Core facility is preferred, particularly in a collaborative, user-focused environment. Anticipated Hiring Range
