The Head of Upstream Marketing, OSA is responsible for defining and driving the upstream marketing strategy for the OSA portfolio. This role translates market insights into clear strategic direction, investment recommendations, and product roadmaps that guide future development. The position works cross-functionally to ensure products are designed, positioned, and prepared for successful commercialization. This role reports directly to the Head of Commercialization, OSA.

Areas of Responsibility

Market Strategy & Insights

  • Assess market trends and emerging needs; translate insights into strategic plans and investment recommendations.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive market research to identify and validate customer needs, preferences, and long-term market trends.

  • Analyze the competitive landscape to understand market positioning, strengths, and weaknesses.

  • Partner with Business Development to explore future portfolio opportunities and provide strategic marketing input.

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the assigned product category to guide development priorities and investments.

  • Develop compelling value propositions and business cases for investments across the product portfolio.

  • Collaborate closely with product development and R&D teams to define product features, specifications, and benefits that align with market demands and deliver competitive advantage.

  • Work directly with R&D and the PMO team on product definition and roadmap planning.

Commercialization & Launch Readiness

  • Establish the foundation of initial product launch plans, ensuring a smooth handoff to downstream marketing for execution.

  • Partner with downstream marketing to align on product positioning, messaging, and launch readiness.

  • Coordinate cross-functional launch inputs to support a successful transition from development to commercialization.

  • Define pricing strategy for product launches, incorporating market research, Business Development input, competitive dynamics, production costs, and perceived customer value.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration

  • Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across R&D, Business Development, Medical and Clinical Affairs, downstream marketing, and commercial teams.

  • Ensure accountability for the creation and timely completion of project deliverables.

  • Effectively communicate new product requirements to the sales organization through strong presentation and technical writing skills.

Leadership & People Management

  • Foster a diverse and inclusive culture through both people management and thought leadership.

  • Hire effectively when appropriate; provide ongoing coaching and career development, retain top talent, and lead high-performing teams.

  • Apply the LivaNova Business System (LBS) where applicable and develop metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and execution of programs.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. Preferably in engineering, science, marketing, or business administration; MBA preferred.

  • 15+ career experience in areas such as in:

    • Neurology, neuromodulation or related disciplines

    • Neuroscience / Pharmaceutical products

    • Sleep apnea

  • 5+ years of managing direct reports and other teams indirectly

  • Solid people management skills with direct and indirect teams.

  • Analytical decision-maker with dynamic and pragmatic problem-solving attitude.

  • Digital product experience is a plus

Pay Transparency

  • A reasonable estimate of the annual base salary for this position is $185,000 - $250,000 + discretionary annual bonus. Pay ranges may vary by location.
