The Research Assistant assists with experiments by assisting senior-level researchers in data collection and analysis, as well as multiple lab management tasks. They are expected to work somewhat independently, given broad parameters of the experimental goals, designing and implementing basic analysis pipelines with minimal oversight.

Duties include:
1. Assistance in the management of the lab animal colony, including organizing and planning animal breeding schedules, genotyping, and aligning animal numbers to laboratory experiments on a 3-month horizon. The Research Assistant must be able to develop and perform these duties with occasional oversight and direction.
2. Assistance with the design and implementation of animal histology pipeline, including transcardial perfusion, brain extraction, slicing, and processing for immunohistochemistry. This person should be able to carry out these steps with minimal instruction, given only the desired end results.
3. Assistance with the design and implementation of an imaging pipeline for multi-color fluorescence imaging in rodent brain tissues, given desired end results.
4. Analysis of brain images using NIH Image and Matlab under the supervision of a senior researcher.
5. Implementation of transcranial viral injections in developing rodents, given the desired end results.
6. Other laboratory maintenance duties, including implementation of laboratory, chemical, and biological safety; stocking laboratory supplies; organization and cleaning of laboratory spaces.
7. Implementation of research projects related to these duties under the mentorship of senior lab members.

Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

* Previous lab experience including lab maintenance and lab safety preferred.
