Position Overview

The Senior Director Enterprise Strategy is a high-impact contributor who, along with the Chief Strategy Officer, will drive enterprise strategy development across Zelis - from market analysis and competitive positioning to capability assessment, strategic narrative development, and overall corporate growth strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer, this person serves as a trusted analytical and strategic partner to senior leadership, moving fluidly between rigorous analysis and executive-level storytelling.

What you'll do:

Enterprise Strategy Development

  • Lead development and continuous evolution of Zelis's enterprise strategy, synthesizing market dynamics, competitive positioning, technology trends, and capability assessments into actionable growth and portfolio management frameworks

  • Structure and drive strategic planning cycles - annual strategy and portfolio reviews, board presentations, and operating model assessments

  • Develop multi-year strategic plans, growth roadmaps, and investment thesis documents that align business unit strategies with enterprise priorities

  • Translate complex analyses into clear, compelling narratives for C-suite executives and board-level audiences

  • Support both organic and inorganic growth plays

Competitive and Market Intelligence

  • Own Enterprise competitive intelligence frameworks, working in collaboration with the Company's operating units, that provide early warning of market shifts, emerging threats, and new entrant activity across healthcare payments, payment integrity, revenue cycle, and adjacent health IT

  • Synthesize regulatory, technological, and macroeconomic trends - including AI/ML adoption and payment model evolution - into strategic implications for Zelis

  • In partnership with our Corporate Development team, monitor funding events, partnership formations, and strategic activity across the healthcare technology ecosystem

Cross-Functional Strategic Collaboration

  • Partner with business unit leadership, sales, technology and executive team/BOD to translate strategic priorities into key growth plays and portfolio management actions

  • Facilitate strategic alignment across business units, resolving competing priorities with a clear analytical foundation

  • Prepare, and participate with, the Chief Strategy Officer and CEO for board presentations and external strategic communications

What you'll bring:

  • Experience: 10-15 years overall corporate experience including 7-10 years in strategy and a demonstrated track record in healthcare technology

  • Healthcare depth: Substantive experience working with or within health plans (payers) and provider organizations - fluency in the financial, operational, and regulatory dynamics of the payer-provider relationship is required

  • Analytical rigor: Exceptional quantitative and qualitative skills, including financial modeling, market sizing, and deep understanding of scenario-based strategic frameworks (i.e. where to play/how to win etc.)

  • Communication: Outstanding ability to distill and deliver complex multi-stakeholder analyses into executive-quality documents and presentations

  • Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate with and influence senior leadership without direct authority in matrixed, fast-paced environments

Preferred Experience

  • Consulting pedigree: Prior experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm (McKinsey, Bain, BCG or equivalent) strongly preferred

  • MBA: MBA from a top-tier institution preferred; advanced degrees in health policy or data science also relevant

  • Health IT operating experience: In-house strategy experience at a healthcare information technology company - particularly in payments, RCM, data and analytics, or clinical workflow highly valued

  • Pharmacy / PBM: Familiarity with pharmacy benefit management or the broader drug supply chain

  • Fintech experience: Familiarity with Fintech market and strategy outside of healthcare also a plus

  • Product management: Experience working in or closely with software product management - roadmap prioritization, product-market fit, platform strategy

  • Agentic AI: Experience developing or evaluating strategy for AI-native or agentic AI-powered healthcare products and services
