The Training Accessibility Intern supports Goodwill's Learning and Development (L&D) team by assessing and improving the accessibility of learning programs for individuals with disabilities. This 8-week internship focuses on evaluating current training offerings, identifying barriers to access, and recommending accessible, scalable solutions that enhance participation and learning outcomes across the organization. This role will collaborate with L&D, program leadership, and frontline team members to ensure learning experiences are equitable, accessible, and aligned with the various needs of individuals served, including those with disabilities and other barriers to employment. The internship concludes with a formal presentation of findings and recommendations. Example Duties and Activities
Assesses current L&D offerings (in-person, virtual, and digital) to identify accessibility gaps for individuals with disabilities. Partners with L&D and program teams to evaluate training materials, delivery methods, and tools through an accessibility lens. Engages with team members and program participants to gather feedback on learning experiences and barriers to access. Research best practices in accessible learning, universal design, and inclusive training strategies. Recommends improvements to course design, facilitation methods, and materials to enhance accessibility and inclusion. Supports updates to learning materials (e.g., slide decks, job aids, digital content) to align with accessibility standards. Assists in piloting or testing updated learning approaches and gathers feedback for continuous improvement. Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure recommendations are practical, scalable, and aligned with organizational goals. Prepares and delivers a final presentation summarizing findings, insights, and recommendations.
Required Competencies
Education - College or graduate student in social work, psychology, nonprofit management, education, instructional design, or related field. Educational interest or experience in accessibility, disability-related inclusion, or learning and development preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to conduct research, analyze findings, and translate insights into actionable recommendations. Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Google Suite and internet-based tools. Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to learn. Strong work ethic and commitment to teamwork and customer service. Ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
