Buyer Job Purpose: This position is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, buying and managing a wide range of purchase requisitions in support of production in a compliant manner aligned with internal policies and procedures. Nature of Duties:
Coordinate purchasing activities and process purchase requisitions in a timely manner
Using MRP and/or manual requisitions, analyze demand to determine need
Send out RFQ's for price and availability
Negotiate price/volume/delivery dates
Process RMA's
Monitor supplier performance and expedite or reschedule deliveries as necessary to meet production requirements.
Responsible for resolving AP/AR issues through analysis and investigation
Drive profitability through good understanding of our material and labor costs as they relate to our desired business goals
May research alternative suppliers for obsolete or long lead time parts
May manage implementation of engineering changes, interpretation of procurement policies, process improvement projects, contract negotiation and approval of PPV's
Must understand multi-level Bills of Materials (complex assemblies within assemblies)
Experience using "Price Escalation" clauses to adjust for changing copper and steel market costs
Familiarity with Incoterms (shipping rules) for moving heavy raw materials
Ability to manage exchange rate risks for international purchases
APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or ISM (CPSM) certification is preferred
Education and Experience:
5 years experience purchasing electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical components
Contract Manufacturing experience preferred
Mechanical Manufacturing Operations
Experience in Materials, Supply Chain and/or Cost Accounting, preferred
Strong analytical and project management skills
Proficient with MS office (emphasis on Excel)
Highly proficient ERP system experience (preferably Oracle)
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable in interacting with suppliers as well as Sanmina customers.
Self-starter, demonstrates initiative and commitment, able to work in teams and as an individual contributor
