IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Ontario, CA, or Los Angeles, CA to lead electrical system design efforts for moderate to complex building projects. In this role, you'll work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients-supporting positive outcomes through engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings. You'll also support project budgets, contribute to training and mentoring, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards

  • Perform site assessments and develop detailed analysis and technical reports

  • Interact with clients to understand needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information effectively

  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication

  • Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence

  • Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements

  • Provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff

  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering; Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG

  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work; Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals

  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required

  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry

  • Adept in the technical aspects of one's discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems

  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)

  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu

  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others

  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise

  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships

  • Strong training and mentoring skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

Electrical Team Highlights

  • Design power distribution, lighting, and specialty electrical systems for buildings and infrastructure

  • Support projects including medium-voltage campus power systems, emergency power, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and renewable energy integration

  • Coordinate closely with other design teams to deliver integrated, code-compliant solutions that drive high-performance, energy-efficient outcomes for clients

  • Work across project types such as data centers, hospitals, and K-12, using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, and AGi32

State of California Salary Range: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
