The Director of Capital Markets is responsible for leading two core business lines: Loan Syndications and Customer Derivatives. This role serves as a senior leader within the organization, overseeing complex transaction structuring, market distribution, risk management, and clientfacing derivatives activities. The Director ensures exceptional execution quality, strong governance, and alignment with Firstrust Bank's strategic objectives while partnering closely with Relationship Management, Credit, Legal, and Portfolio Management teams.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Loan Syndications


As Director of Loan Syndications, the individual leads the structuring, distribution, and ongoing management of syndicated and participated credit facilities across commercial real estate, commercial structured finance, and specialty lending segments, with a focus on disciplined risk distribution and marketcompetitive execution.


Key responsibilities include:



  • Structuring and executing syndications and participations for bank credit facilities.
  • Advising internal partners on facility structure, pricing, terms, and underwriting strategies.
  • Leading lender outreach, market soundings, bookrunning activities, and allocation processes.
  • Managing all aspects of information flow, including data room administration, lender communications, and disclosure controls.
  • Coordinating due diligence, legal documentation, and internal approval workflows in partnership with deal teams.
  • Ensuring loan documentation complies with regulatory standards, credit policy, and market norms while protecting the Bank's interests.
  • Originating opportunities for participation in thirdparty bank club transactions.
  • Developing, coaching, and mentoring Capital Markets team members.
  • Maintaining and strengthening investor relationships across banks and institutional lenders.
  • Maintaining comprehensive databases for closed syndication and participation transactions.
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives focused on process efficiency, analytics, and technology.


Customer Derivatives


The Director of Customer Derivatives oversees the Bank's customerfacing interest rate derivatives platform in partnership with a thirdparty derivatives provider and is responsible for the full lifecycle of derivative products offered to commercial clients.


Key responsibilities include:



  • Leading the development and execution of the Bank's customer derivatives strategy with a focus on disciplined growth, risk management, and profitability.
  • Providing thought leadership on interest rate markets, hedging strategies, benchmark transitions, and regulatory developments.
  • Managing a highperforming team responsible for sales, structuring, operations, and risk oversight.
  • Serving as the Bank's senior subject matter expert on interest rate hedging solutions for commercial borrowers.
  • Partnering with Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers to deliver tailored derivative solutions, including swaps, caps, and floors.
  • Managing the Bank's relationship with its thirdparty derivatives partner.
  • Overseeing pricing models, trade structures, execution protocols, and use of the cloudbased hedging platform.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including DoddFrank Title VII and SOFR adoption standards.
  • Overseeing trade execution, settlement, operational processes, and derivatives documentation, including ISDA Master Agreements and Risk Participation Agreements.
  • Acting as liaison for internal audit, risk oversight, and regulatory examinations.
  • Conducting educational training for relationship managers, portfolio managers, and credit personnel.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial real estate lending, structured finance, loan syndications, or related capital markets disciplines.
  • Deep expertise in underwriting processes, credit analysis, loan documentation, and market conventions.
  • Demonstrated track record leading syndicated or bookrun transactions.
  • Strong proficiency in loan modeling, facility structuring, pricing grids, covenant frameworks, and flex structures.
  • Broad network of bank and institutional investors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
