The Office of Research and Innovation (
ORI) supports research, scholarship, and creative activities of the NC State community, facilitates a collaborative research and innovation environment, and translates results into social, economic, and technological development across North Carolina and around the world.
Research Operations and Communications provides leadership in development, planning and implementation of Office of Research and Innovation's strategic goals and initiatives. The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Operations and Communications is a liaison to the Vice Chancellor and acts on her behalf. The unit provides logistical (both administrative and operational) support to all Office of Research and Innovation units in the areas of strategic initiatives, reporting, centers and research cores, research development activities, communications, marketing, web services, special events, etc. The unit leads all communications, marketing and web activities for Office of Research and Innovation and facilitates activities between Office of Research and Innovation units and University Communications.
The Office of Post Award Financial Services (
OPAFS) oversees post-award administration for NC State University. Post Award Financial Services staff supports department and college Research Administrators, faculty, and staff by managing the cornerstones of Post-Award Administration including: project ID setup, deposits, invoicing, letter of credit draws, accounts receivable, financial reports to sponsors, new award/attribute review, audit coordination, project modification request approvals, regulatory checklists, effort reporting and general compliance oversight. |

| Essential Job Duties |
The
ERA Training Manager provides institutionwide leadership for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of educational programs supporting NC State's Enterprise Research Administration (
ERA) System. The position operates with significant autonomy, coordinating across
ORI,
OPAFS,
OIT,
OFA, and campus research units to ensure training, communication, and learning strategies align with institutional and team goals, system functionality, and regulatory expectations.
Specific areas of direct responsibility include, but are not limited to:
ERA Training Program Leadership (35%)
- Develop, administer, and manage campuswide ERA education programs and initiatives.
- Oversee the design and implementation of learning strategies that strengthen research administration expertise and support longterm workforce sustainability.
- Lead the creation of multimodal training resources (videos, instructorled sessions, webinars, eLearning, print materials, enduser guides).
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of training needs, resource effectiveness, and communication strategies to ensure alignment with ERA system updates and institutional priorities.
RED Project Team Engagement & System Integration (25%)
- Serve as the training and communications representative on RED Project Team working groups.
- Monitor RED Project testing activities and system updates to optimize training schedules and content accuracy.
- Coordinate with technical and functional business representatives to ensure posttesting changes are incorporated into all training materials.
- Maintain responsibility for ERA training across all technology platforms and collaborate with OIT and LMS development teams to implement updates.
Training Delivery, Coordination & Quality Assurance (20%)
- Coordinate, facilitate, and deliver training programs for campus audiences.
- Direct temporary employees and/or contractors supporting training delivery.
- Analyze and report training effectiveness using performance evaluations, course completions, grades, and other relevant metrics.
- Assess and implement training initiatives supporting longterm ERA and Research Education and Training Team strategic goals.
- Identify opportunities and make recommendations for improving processes.
Communications, Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement (15%)
- Identify and implement best practices for communicating training information to varied campus audiences.
- Coordinate closely with the Research Education & Communications Team to ensure consistent messaging and aligned training strategies.
- Partner with Subject Matter Experts across central offices to identify emerging training needs and ensure content accuracy.
- Generate and implement strategies that strengthen collaboration between ORI, OIT, OFA, and the campus research community.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience.
|
| Other Required Qualifications |
- Expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles.
- Strong understanding of research administration processes and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to translate complex technical and functional information into accessible training materials.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholderengagement skills.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems and technologyenabled training tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across varied units.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's degree in education, instructional design, research administration, or a related field.
- Experience with enterprise research administration systems (e.g., RED, Kuali, Cayuse, InfoEd).
- Demonstrated success leading crossfunctional training initiatives.
