We are currently searching for an experienced Business Development/Marketing Manager (AEC Industry) to support our Volkert West Region located in Cottonwood Heights, UT.

We are seeking an experienced Business Development/Marketing Manager to lead growth in our Utah market. This role is responsible for developing client relationships, identifying opportunities, and winning consulting work across engineering and construction management services.

This is a senior, client-facing role focused on bringing in work, not just supporting marketing efforts.

What you'll be doing:

Win Work and Drive Growth

  • Lead business development efforts to secure new consulting contracts
  • Identify, prioritize, and pursue high-value opportunities
  • Develop and execute capture strategies for key pursuits
  • Convert leads into active opportunities and wins

Build Client Relationships

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with UDOT, municipalities, and key clients
  • Position the firm with decision-makers and influencers
  • Expand services with existing clients and open doors with new ones

Lead Strategic Pursuits

  • Develop pursuit strategies, teaming approaches, and win plans
  • Support and guide proposal and interview teams
  • Coach technical staff in client engagement and positioning

Market Intelligence and Positioning

  • Track market trends, competitors, and upcoming opportunities
  • Identify teaming partners and strategic alliances
  • Provide actionable insights to leadership on where to invest and pursue

Represent the Firm

  • Actively engage in industry events, associations, and client meetings
  • Build a strong professional network that leads to opportunities
  • Strengthen the firm's reputation as a trusted partner

What you need to have:

  • 10+ years of experience in the AEC industry with a strong focus on business development
  • Proven track record of winning work, ideally with UDOT and/or municipalities
  • Strong client relationships and understanding of the Utah market
  • Experience leading pursuits, capture planning, and proposal strategy
  • This position requires heavy travel and overnight stays 3-5 days per week
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
