Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Manager, Facilities Management is responsible for the operational leadership, technical oversight, and daily supervision of facilities operations within their designated area, department, facility or facilities. The incumbent is accountable for all operational, administrative, and supervisory activities within the assigned facilities area, ensuring a safe, functional, and compliant physical environment for patients, visitors, and coworkers in accordance with regulatory, accreditation, and health system standards. The Manager provides direct oversight to supervisory and facilities coworkers, and participates in hands-on operational activities as needed. This position is accountable for departmental performance, including operational processes and financial stewardship, and collaborates with clinical, administrative, and operational leadership to support quality improvement initiatives, coworker development, capital planning, and the achievement of departmental performance goals. The Manager, Facilities Management is expected to work onsite and travel regularly to UCI Health facilities and locations to support operations.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong organization and project management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to plan strategically
  • Previous experience in healthcare facilities engineering operations including management experience to be able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of hospital facilities and physical plant management including electrical, plumbing and HVAC operations.
  • Must have experience with the business and practice of best methods of general operation and repair of complex medical facilities and building support systems
  • Must be experienced and knowledgeable in all relative laws, regulations and codes including Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements for a hospital setting
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years supervisory or managerial experience in a medium to large size facility
  • Financial management and analysis skills consistent with budgetary responsibilities
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent education/experience involving the application of mechanical engineering design theories related to energy systems
  • Ability to read and correctly interpret complex regulations, contracts and policies
  • Ability to persuade or influence people to take appropriate action
  • Ability to apply sound judgment in ambiguous situations and effectively manage change

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strongly preferred CHFM Certified Hospital Facilities Manager
  • Certification from a reputable/recognizable energy resource management programs such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Standards), CEM (Certified Energy Manager) or BEP (Business Energy Professional)
