Admin Consultant

This part-time, hourly position will be responsible for supporting community partnerships to ensure high quality community-engaged learning.

  • Strategic Oversight: Provide high-level guidance for staff and ensure program alignment with the Center's mission.
  • Operational Leadership: Facilitate weekly staff meetings to maintain communication and project momentum.
  • Administrative Authority: Serve as the primary signatory for budgetary approvals, contracts, and official documentation.
  • Personnel Management: Supervise core staff, offering direction on priority tasks and addressing urgent internal needs.
  • Program Continuity: Monitor ongoing community partnerships and initiatives to ensure stability during the transition.

This is a short-term, (3-4 month assignment) for approximately 8-10 hours per week.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field + at least 4 years of relevant professional experience or a Master's degree in a relevant field + 2 years relevant professional experience.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Documented ability to work successfully with a broad range of constituencies (students, faculty, staff, and community partner representatives) and experience developing partnerships for community-engaged learning.
  • Project management experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Evidence of success working with diverse communities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equal opportunity, equity, inclusion, diversity, and racial justice.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous U of M professional work experience.
About the Department

The Center for Community-Engaged Learning (CCEL) at the University of Minnesota supports the mission of the University, especially the teaching and learning and public engagement aspects, by supporting faculty and departments in developing and implementing academic community-engaged learning courses that involve students partnering with local communities to meet course objectives while fulfilling community identified goals; managing the Community Engagement Scholars Program (CESP) for undergraduate students doing significant and intentional community work; providing community engagement advising for students; and advising on and managing the University relationship with the affiliated domestic, North American off-campus study program, National Student Exchange. CCEL works with partners to provide opportunities for students to engage in off-campus experiential learning through community work and place-based educational programs. Whether academically-based or co-curricular, these experiences complement classroom learning, foster personal, professional and civic development, and allow students to work with others to enhance the well-being of our communities. CCEL is a unit of the Office for the Vice Provost for Public Engagement within the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $75.00 - $100.00 per hour, depending on education/qualifications/experience.
