The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences' Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia seeks an Administrative Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of professional level work across a composite of administrative service areas including finance, procurement, academic administration, student services, communications, travel arrangements, department programming, space and facilities and/or high-level operational support.This role also provides advanced administrative support to the department chair. The Department's Administrative Specialists assume a breadth of responsibilities across multiple functions. The primary focus is on delivery of professional services, which may include project management, compliance, administrative program creation and oversight, training, analysis, and research and contract administration. The ideal candidate is highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail. They communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and students, work well both independently and as part of a team, and quickly adapt to new processes in a dynamic environment. Physical Demands This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
