Job Summary:

The Treasurer is a key finance leader responsible for driving enterprise-wide liquidity, cash flow optimization, capital deployment, and working capital performance across a private equity-backed, multi-location, multi-state construction services platform. This role is critical in a decentralized operating environment with numerous branches, legal entities, and banking relationships, and will partner closely with the CFO, operating presidents, accounting, FP&A, and shared services teams to improve cash visibility, strengthen controls, and maximize financial flexibility.

The Treasurer will lead all aspects of cash management, liquidity planning, borrowing base and debt oversight, banking strategy, and treasury operations, while also playing a central role in improving working capital performance across the business. This includes building best-in-class short- and long-term cash forecasting processes, driving disciplined collections strategies to reduce DSO, and leading AP automation and payment process transformation to improve efficiency, controls, and cash flow timing. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in private equity-backed environments and understands how to build scalable treasury and working capital infrastructure in a complex construction or field services organization.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Lead all enterprise treasury activities, including cash management, liquidity planning, borrowing strategy, bank relationship management, and treasury operations across a multi-entity, multi-state construction platform.
  • Develop and manage daily, weekly, and long-range cash forecasting processes, including 13-week direct cash flow forecasting and longer-term liquidity planning tied to business performance, seasonality, acquisitions, and capital deployment needs.
  • Establish robust cash visibility across all operating companies, bank accounts, and legal entities, with clear reporting on cash position, availability, restricted cash, debt usage, and short-term liquidity needs.
  • Optimize working capital performance across the enterprise, with direct focus on accelerating cash collections, improving billing and collections discipline, and materially reducing AR days sales outstanding.
  • Partner with operations, billing, collections, and finance leaders to implement standardized AR performance management tools, escalation processes, and KPI reporting that improve invoice quality, collection speed, and overall cash conversion.
  • Lead AP strategy and transformation efforts, including successful implementation of AP automation tools, centralized payment controls, approval workflows, and process standardization across a decentralized branch network.
  • Support the CFO and private equity sponsors with liquidity reporting, debt capacity analysis, free cash flow insights, and capital allocation recommendations.
  • Oversee banking relationships and negotiate treasury-related services, including deposit structures, cash concentration, lockbox, ACH/wire controls, merchant services, fraud tools, and other banking products.
  • Partner with accounting and FP&A to ensure alignment between treasury reporting, cash forecasting, budget expectations, and actual operating performance.
  • Support acquisition integration by onboarding acquired businesses into treasury infrastructure, rationalizing bank accounts, standardizing cash controls, and improving visibility into acquired company working capital.

Qualifications (Experience, Education & Certifications, Key Attributes):

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required; MBA, CPA, or CTP preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive treasury, corporate finance, or working capital leadership experience, ideally within a private equity-backed, multi-entity, multi-location business.
  • Strong experience in construction, infrastructure services, industrial services, specialty contracting, or other project-based / field services environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated success operating in a complex multi-state, branch-based organization with decentralized operations and centralized financial oversight
  • Deep experience in cash management, liquidity planning, debt management, and short- and long-term cash forecasting, including ownership of a 13-week cash flow process.
  • Proven track record of driving meaningful working capital improvement, including materially reducing AR DSO and improving cash conversion performance.
  • Hands-on experience leading AP automation implementation and transformation efforts across a scaled business, including workflow design, controls enhancement, and process standardization.
  • Strong understanding of billing, collections, retainage, project cash cycles, lien waiver processes, and other construction-related working capital dynamics.
  • Experience managing bank relationships, credit facilities, covenant compliance, letters of credit, and treasury controls in leveraged environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with CFOs, private equity sponsors, operations leaders, and shared services teams on cash generation and liquidity improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to translate treasury and working capital insights into actionable operating decisions.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, treasury tools, banking portals, and reporting environments; experience with construction-adjacent systems and process automation tools strongly preferred.
