Dover Precision Components is hiring a Director- Commercial and Operations for our Bearings Plus (BPI) brand. Bearings Plus, the aftermarket arm of Waukesha Bearings, is an industry leader in the repair, replacement and upgrade of fluid film bearings and seals. Established in 1994 to service the fast turnaround needs of the petrochemical plants along the Gulf Coast, Bearings Plus has its roots deep in the rotating machinery industry and has established itself as a leader in the design, manufacture, and service of fluid film bearings and seals. WHAT YOU'LL DO

In this role, you will lead Bearings Plus (BPI) Aftermarket business to ensure we remain a leader in servicing the aftermarket needs of customers. We provide aftermarket repair/refurbishment/CNC machining operations. This role oversees 40-50 employees.

The position has full accountability for Operations and BPI's P&L for short to mid-term strategic goals. You will coordinate resources to deliver superior products and quality service which exceed both internal and external customers' expectations. You will work closely with the Vice President, Engineering Bearings, the BPI team and the wider Dover Pearland Operations (DPO) site management team. Responsibilities include:

  • Create and deliver the plan for profitable growth to exceed BPI's performance objectives; own and execute on BPI's short to mid-term strategic goals and priorities, annual plan, and P&L
  • Build and support a customer centric culture across the BPI business
  • Oversee sales and business development, planning, buying, manufacturing engineering, and production functions
  • Partner with DPO management team and key stakeholders to support plant wide and companywide initiatives including culture, communication and continuous improvement
  • Ensure the safety of BPI employees by driving safety performance and culture, in line with the "Zero Harm at home & at work" mission
  • Manage BPI business and resources as needed including goals, strategic initiatives and make necessary resource and planning decisions
  • Provide direct and indirect supervision for employees, playing an active, hands-on role in the BPI operational and business development processes where required
  • Create and foster opportunities to create a positive, dynamic culture where Bearings Plus employees have an opportunity to contribute and grow professionally
  • Meet all operational KPIs, such as OTD, lead time, quality, inventory and working capital
  • Champion process improvement and lean manufacturing activities; oversees the implementation of best practices across operations
  • Develop capital expenditure recommendations and justifications
  • Ensure maximizing sales and business development performance of the BPI business through development of sales targets and strategies

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, business, or related field required
  • 7+ years of relevant operations leadership experience required within related industry, such as engineered to order, customer centric CNC machining (mills/lathes) and/or aftermarket refurbishment/repair or engineered products' maintenance business
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage business strategies, including sales
  • Proven ability to direct, coach, and develop employees; sets goals in training and development, performance, and career planning by leveraging strong problem-solving
  • Exceptional skills in partnering both internally and externally to develop and maintain positive relationships; demonstrated ability to communicate with and influence a wide range of individuals across multiple areas of the organization
  • Excellent business & financial acumen coupled with deep understanding of P&L statements
  • Ability to organize time effectively and determine priorities to deliver results
  • Experience of embedding a customer centric culture
  • Applied knowledge of continuous Improvement practices and Lean Concepts
  • Strong computer skills: ERP systems, such as Syteline, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

ALSO GREAT IF YOU BRING/ PREFERENCES

  • Background in bearings and seals for rotating machinery throughout oil & gas, power generation, and/or industrial markets
  • Experience in an environment of continuous improvement that includes the use of tools such as process analysis, Kaizen, and Lean techniques
