Focus: We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Specialist with an emphasis in Air Emission Permitting to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, engineering principles, regulatory compliance, and computer skills. This role involves reviewing projects associated with manufacturing processes, facility renovation, and new construction for environmental permits, emissions, and waste generation.
Environmental Specialist Essential Responsibilities:
- Attend project development meetings to identify what environmental impacts the project may have.
- Document, prepare, and discuss these environmental impacts with the Olin Winchester (OW) Environmental team to engage the appropriate subject matter expert within the OW Environmental team.
- Serve as the Environmental liaison and primary point of contact on projects among the M&I Group, US Army Corps of Engineers, Government Environmental, and OW Environmental.
- Track project progress and assure that identified environmental compliance milestones and notifications are made to regulatory agencies.
- Perform National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) assessments and prepare necessary documents associated with NEPA and State Historic Preservation Office.
Environmental Specialist Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree* in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
- Minimum 1 year of recent relevant experience.
- Ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of manufacturing facility operations and the associated emissions and waste streams.
- Understanding of regulation review and interpretation with a strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, TEAMS etc.)
- Willingness to be hands-on and perform in the field work, inspections, and reviews.
Location-Specific Requirements:
- Must possess a valid US Drivers License
- This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
- This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
- This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
