Led by the Executive Vice Chancellor (EVC), it comprises seven academic divisions and schools, eight (8) undergraduate colleges, the University Libraries and the Division of Extended Studies. The Vice Chancellor area also includes academic support units, as well as the units under the purview of the Vice Chancellor Student Affairs and Vice Chancellor for Organizational Transformation. The Office of the EVC is responsible for policy and procedure communication and implementation, resource administration, training and guidance, and program development for administrators, faculty, and staff within the EVC areas. Under the direction of the Director of Student Services and Community Engagement, the Academic Advisor serves as an experienced professional academic advisor for the UC San Diego program in Chula Vista. Provides online and in-person academic advising individually and in groups on degree requirements, University policies and procedures, and academic opportunities. Helps and guides students to develop academic plans that align with their personal and professional goals. Assists in the evaluation of transfer coursework for admission consideration. Determines applicability of transfer coursework to fulfill academic requirements. Provides enrollment advising and transition support for incoming students. Monitors students' records to ensure academic progress and compliance with requirements and policies. Makes decisions on requests for exceptions to academic requirements and regulations. Counsels students experiencing academic difficulty and discusses options and alternatives. Provides referrals to campus resources and services as appropriate. Develops and delivers advising related programs and services to meet the needs of targeted populations. Serves on University committees. Acts as liaison to academic departments, Colleges, and campus-wide student support offices; interacts with faculty, families, and the general public.
