Primary Responsibilities
As a Payroll Staff Accountant in our Omaha Corporate Office, you will support a wide range of activities within our U.S. payroll operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing payroll and performing payroll reconciliations
  • Auditing employee master data to ensure accurate tax withholding and payroll compliance
  • Strong understanding of US payroll tax regulations.
  • Completing a variety of payroll record keeping and processing tasks, including:
    • Calculating wages, overtime, and payroll deductions
    • Processing off cycle checks and terminations
    • Entering and maintaining payroll data
    • Managing document retention
    • Updating payroll related spreadsheets
    • Responding to employee payroll inquiries

HDR is currently implementing a third party SaaS Human Resources and Payroll system that will be used to process U.S. payroll. Candidates with experience supporting system stabilization, documenting business processes, and working with newly implemented HR/payroll platforms are strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, consistently performs work with precision and accuracy, and thrives in a collaborative team environment. You will be expected to complete assigned tasks within established timelines while ensuring compliance with payroll regulations across applicable jurisdictions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience performing US payroll or similar relatable experience required
  • MS Office proficiency, with focus on Excel capabilities required
  • Detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
  • Team oriented and willingness to learn new things
  • Bachelor's degree is a plus
  • In-house, multi-state U.S. payroll experience preferred
  • A/E/C industry experience preferred
  • Preference given to candidates currently residing in the Omaha-Metro Area
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
