Hill International is seeking an Assistant Structures Representative / Senior Bridge Inspector in Santa Rosa, California


  • Inspect structural work for compliance with Caltrans Standard Plans and Specifications, plans, and special provisions.
  • Perform daily inspection of bridge elements, including foundations, reinforcement, concrete, structural steel, and cable-supported components.
  • Document daily activities, quantities, materials, test results, and nonconformance issues per Caltrans requirements.
  • Monitor contractor operations for safety compliance, quality control, and adherence to approved erection plans and working drawings.
  • Support with field issue resolution, RFIs, design clarifications, review of submittals and change order documentation.
  • Review structural steel shop drawing.
  • Inspect and monitor contractor's prestressing operation.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, including Caltrans, the Resident Engineer, contractor personnel, materials testing labs, and local agencies.
  • Assist with oversight of structural work over active freeway lanes, ensuring proper public and worker protection.
  • 5-10 years of structures construction inspection experience, with at least 3 years on Caltrans Structure Construction projects.
  • Experience with cable suspension or cable-supported bridge inspection or construction.
  • Experience on pedestrian/bicycle overcrossings.
  • Strong knowledge of Caltrans Standard Specifications, Structure Construction Manual, structural steel, concrete, falsework/shoring, and post tensioning.
  • Ability to read/interpret complex structural plans, shop drawings, and erection plans.
  • Proficiency in Caltrans documentation practices and construction reporting systems.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills in a field construction environment.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to work at heights and around freeway traffic.
  • PE license, AWS CWI or ICC welding/bolting certifications preferred.

The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $190,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.
