Clariant is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong commitment to workplace safety and exceptional initiative to drive the success of our Care Chemicals Business Unit. As a Shift Supervisor, you'll play a pivotal role in coordinating, planning, and controlling manufacturing processes on your assigned shift, ensuring our products and services are produced efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards. This is a rotating shift position working 12-hour shifts on a 2/2/3 schedule (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, rotating between days and nights). This is an opportunity to lead a dynamic team, make a tangible impact on daily operations, and contribute to a culture of safety and excellence in a global specialty chemicals leader.
Responsibilities
- Conduct shift safety meetings and align team with site and company KPIs
- Oversee overall shift operations and activities, ensuring production outputs and quality standards are met
- Coordinate with logistics and production for correct movement and transfer of all materials throughout the site
- Ensure process orders are carried out and completed; report Production Order Variance (POV) to Operations Manager or Assistant Operations Manager
- Alert Supply Chain on process order errors; Review of data and quality control metrics
- Relay and verify vital shift operations and instructions from Operations Manager, Supply Chain, and other shifts
- Verify completion of all shift operations training, signoffs, Management of Change (MOC), checklists, and batch-specific documentation
- Respond to upset or abnormal process equipment according to established procedures to minimize safety, environmental, or quality impacts
- Work with maintenance to schedule planned work and improve Work Notification quality
- Troubleshoot equipment and process problems to identify needed corrections or improvements
- Assist in training new employees
- Manage operator scheduling needs (vacation, callouts, etc.)
- Perform 6S activities and general housekeeping duties within assigned work areas
Requirements
- Associate degree in Chemicals or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years supervisory experience in the chemical industry
- Proficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP)
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts on a 2/2/3 schedule, including days, nights, and weekends
- Ability to work with and supervise teams effectively
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of plant equipment, processes, test methods, and utility support equipment
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple work processes simultaneously
