This position is the facility level Safety Basis operational activities lead. Responsible for leading and managing the development of hazard identification, facility hazard categorization, accident analysis; selection of controls, and development of associated Safety Basis documents including Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ)Determinations, Evaluation of the Safety of the Situations, Justification for Continued Operations, Technical Safety Requirement page changes, and maintenance of the facility Safety Basis. The selected candidate ensures all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security. 426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
Education and Experience Required: Bachelors' degree combined with 7 years' relative experience. Experience must include at least 3 years of supervisory responsibility. Per DOE O 426.2, this position requires a bachelors degree and four years of nuclear experience. Business Associations: Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects. Impact: Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Normally assigned to perform work in an office environment. Only electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated. Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the discipline. Office work environment.
