The Ligand Assay and Analysis Core Laboratory is searching for a Lab and Research Tech 2 to join the team. This role will be responsible for conducting and managing laboratory testing across different methodologies. For the laboratory, assays are run in established protocols, data collected and collated, and results sent to investigators across the country and at UVA. All of this contributes to the advancing knowledge in the field of Reproductive Science.
https://med.virginia.edu/research-in-reproduction/ligand-assay-analysis-core/ This role will work in a team environment supporting the Ligand Assay and Analysis Core Laboratory through running assays using the following methodologies: ELISA and RIA (I-125). If needed, the Lab Tech may be asked to learn work in other methodologies. All of this will be done under moderate supervision. This role will also be involved in the day-to-day operations of a laboratory: receiving samples, instrument maintenance, documentation, phone, email, supply inventory, refrigerator and freezer management and other tasks as needed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associate's degree required; may accept equivalent combination of experience, education, certification in lieu of degree. Experience: 2+ years of lab experience which may include student experience. Licensure: None. Preferred Qualifications:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
