Job Summary
The Executive Director is a critical leader in strategic planning and decision-making within the clinic. This position drives the development and execution of departmental objectives and growth strategies, ensuring alignment with the clinic's mission. They foster collaboration and lead initiatives that enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include making informed decisions to standardize clinical practices, managing budgets, and evaluating capital needs. The role also encompasses overseeing employee development through recruitment and performance management. Effective communication with leadership and adherence to compliance standards are essential for maintaining a safe and productive work environment. For some Executive Director roles, the position also includes dotted-line accountability to hospital operations for the specialties they support, ensuring strategic and operational alignment across the care continuum. These Executive Directors collaborate closely with hospital-based leadership to advance shared goals related to quality of care, operational efficiency, and resource optimization. This collaboration may involve joint analysis of clinical and operational data, streamlining care pathways, and improving patient outcomes to ensure consistent, high-value care delivery across all settings.

What you will do



  • Lead the development of long-term growth strategies, aligning departmental visions and goals with the clinic's overarching mission. Collaborate with department chairs to set strategic objectives that address evolving needs and enhance clinical outcomes. Provide high-level direction on the design and operational planning of new or renovated spaces to optimize functionality.
  • Drive the success of new physicians by leading efforts to ensure a smooth transition from recruitment to practice-building. Collaborate with managers to refine processes that support new physician practice startups, proactively resolving any challenges. Oversee provider recruitment, focusing on attracting top talent and creating a seamless onboarding experience. Provide strategic insights during candidate selection and guide future recruitment initiatives. Facilitate a comprehensive clinical onboarding experience, equipping new providers with the resources, mentorship, and support needed to build successful, thriving practices from day one. Cultivate a welcoming environment that fosters long-term engagement and growth for new providers.
  • Ensure the success of daily clinic operations by providing strategic oversight and proactive planning. Collaborate with department chairs and supervisors to optimize workflows, staffing, and resource allocation, ensuring smooth and efficient clinic performance. Monitor operational processes and identify areas for improvement, driving initiatives that enhance patient care, provider efficiency, and overall clinic outcomes. Lead efforts to address any operational challenges, implementing solutions that align with long-term goals. Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration to ensure alignment with clinic objectives and continuous improvement in day-to-day activities.
  • Review, update, and approve legal agreements as assigned. Evaluate capital needs, support the creation of capital requests, and present proposals to leadership. Collaborate with department chairs and leadership teams to develop, track, and monitor budgets, reviewing variances on a monthly basis and implementing corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Collaborate with hospital-based leadership to align specialty operations across ambulatory and inpatient settings. Share data analyses and operational insights to improve quality of care, enhance efficiency, and ensure effective use of clinical resources. Participate in joint planning and performance improvement initiatives to support cohesive, high-value service delivery.
  • Perform full range of leadership responsibilities which include, but is not limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching, and development of employees; managing performance and any performance issues; planning, assigning, and directing work; encourage innovation, teamwork, fiscal responsibility, high-quality work, and a positive/productive work environment. Responsible for department-wide human capital planning and development including succession planning. Monitor and communicate staffing needs to Human Resources.
  • Facilitate seamless patient care by maintaining open lines of communication with providers, supervisors, and managers across departments. Hold regular meetings with providers and assigned departments to discuss operations and ensure alignment. Ensure the confidentiality of management, staff, and patient information while attending and facilitating departmental and clinic operation meetings. Maintain regular communication with the Chief Operating Officer, providing timely minutes and reports as requested.


Education Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in related field Required
  • Master's Degree in related field Preferred


Experience Qualifications



  • 7-9 years progressive leadership experience Required
  • 3-5 years work in a healthcare setting Required
