Position Summary

The Lead Systems Administrator III will lead a four-person Network Operations Center (NOC) team within a complex Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) lab environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth across systems administration, network engineering, virtualization, integration, and cybersecurity, with the ability to independently plan, implement, troubleshoot, and sustain interconnected lab, data center, and testbed systems across classified and unclassified environments. This individual must be able to lead technical execution, resolve complex issues, and clearly communicate status, risks, constraints, and recommendations to leadership and customers while ensuring systems remain operational, integrated, secure, compliant, and aligned with test objectives and delivery deadlines.


Responsibilities


  • Lead daily technical execution of the Network Operations Center (NOC) team supporting lab, data center, and testbed operations.
  • Plan, integrate, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot systems, networks, and virtual environments across classified and unclassified infrastructures.
  • Oversee the sustainment and modernization of Windows and Linux systems, VMware and Hyper-V platforms, Cisco network technologies, domain services, endpoint management solutions, and other supported lab technologies.
  • Support distributed test and evaluation events by providing technical planning, system implementation, operational support, and issue resolution across interconnected platforms and environments.
  • Ensure systems remain secure, compliant, and aligned with cybersecurity, RMF, ATO, STIG, ACAS, and other applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Represent the team in technical meetings and customer engagements by clearly communicating status, risks, constraints, recommendations, and path forward.
  • Assign work, provide technical direction, and maintain accountability for quality, responsiveness, and delivery of team objectives.


Qualifications and Educational Requirements


  • Security+ (Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level 2)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (such as networking, computer science, cybersecurity, information systems, or a closely related discipline); or equivalent specialized knowledge customarily acquired through a combination of military training, formal technical instruction, certifications, and substantial progressively responsible practical experience performing work of comparable scope, complexity, and independent judgment.
  • This position requires an existing U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Secret level, and a favorably adjudicated T5/T5R (or equivalent) background investigation. Individuals must maintain the necessary security requirements for continued employment. U.S. Citizenship is required.



Experience

Required:


  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in systems administration, network engineering, systems integration, or cybersecurity within a complex DoD, enterprise, lab, or test environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience leading technical teams and directing execution of operational or project-based work.
  • Hands-on experience implementing, administering, and troubleshooting Windows and Linux systems, virtualization platforms, network infrastructure, domain services, and interconnected systems across physical and virtual environments.
  • Experience supporting secure and compliant operations through vulnerability management, STIG implementation, access control, patching, system hardening, and other DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience analyzing complex technical issues, developing corrective actions, and communicating technical status, risks, and constraints to leadership and customers.
  • Experience meeting with customers to define test and integration requirements, assess technical feasibility against stated objectives, identify dependencies and risks, develop, and execute plans with clear milestones to support implementation, integration, and test event success.



Preferred:


  • Experience supporting Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E), distributed test, or other highly integrated lab environments.
  • Experience with CANES, ADNS, VMware, Hyper-V, Microsoft Server, Microsoft SQL, Cisco infrastructure, endpoint management solutions, Red Hat platforms, or other COTS, GOTS, and Program of Record technologies.
  • Experience supporting RMF, ATO, eMASS, VRAM, ACAS, SCAP, or other formal cybersecurity compliance and accreditation processes in a Navy or DoD environment.
