SNHU Center for New Americans

The opportunity

The Operations Assistant will manage the front desk and provide operational support during active after school programming hours at the SNHU Center for New Americans. You will be the central point of entry, communication, and coordination during evening programming for approximately 50 youth participants.

The Operations Assistant monitors facility access, supports student sign-in procedures, maintains accurate student information, and provides real-time communication support for program staff. You will help ensure the program environment is organized, safe, welcoming, and culturally responsive. #LI-Onsite

This position schedule is Monday - Thursday 4pm - 8pm. During summer programming (June - July) the schedule is Monday - Thursday 10am - 3pm.

Please note: This is a temporary role through December 2026.

What you'll do:

  • Manage the front desk during active youth programming hours Monday through Thursday.
  • Monitor building entrances and cameras to ensure safe and secure access to the facility.
  • Greet children, families, visitors, and delivery personnel in a welcoming, and culturally responsive manner.
  • Check children in at arrival and maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Receive deliveries and coordinate distribution of materials to appropriate staff.
  • Update and maintain student information records.
  • Provide support to program staff, working closely with the Director and Program Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate information sharing.
  • Support a highly welcoming, accepting, and encouraging environment for children and families.
  • Learn and consistently practice the Center of New American's behavior management approach for youth participants.
  • Communicate respectfully and effectively across cultures, including with non-English-speaking children and families.
  • Participate in biannual CPR/AED certification course required.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential functions of this role.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What we're looking for:

  • 1+ years of experience working with children in a school, daycare, camp, youth program, or community setting.
  • Safe Food Handler Certificate required or willingness to obtain upon hire. The Center will provide paid time to complete and cover certification costs.
  • Basic understanding of youth development and appropriate interactions with children.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office suite
  • Commitment to inclusive and culturally responsive practices.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $17.45 - $27.92. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $19.28 - $26.08.
