Leads the development and execution of holistic, global category management strategies, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, diversity, and risk management initiatives. Develops, executes, and manages global sourcing strategies using the Company's sourcing methodology.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for strategic functions including: evaluation of category/spend information, benchmarking, and making recommendations for sourcing strategy and supplier scorecard criteria.

  • *Develop sourcing strategy incorporating stakeholder and supplier collaboration.

  • Align category strategies with overarching corporate strategies.

  • Develops category expertise, category management expertise, and market contacts, working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders in all aspects of sourcing.

  • Anticipate changes in supply chain, technological advances, and shifts in consumer behavior; proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risk within category.

  • Leads internal projects/programs, optimizing internal relationships to enhance business performance and implementing internal stakeholder management plans to improve collaboration.

  • Set up, structure, and run complex RFPs with multiple phases.

  • Leverage complex data-gathering methods for internal spend analysis.

  • *Understand key sustainability challenges and opportunities for category, FedEx, and the wider industry, and drive impact for FedEx sustainability goals.

  • Incorporate total cost of ownership into negotiation strategy.

  • Lead supplier negotiations, supporting senior staff and leadership.

  • Acts with authority with suppliers, business stakeholders, Finance, and Legal.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Uses deep knowledge of the global facilities services supplier markets / industries to deliver value and find opportunities for FedEx

  • Partners with colleagues and executives to lead RFIs / RFPs and analyze supplier responses for facilities services categories

  • Provides category management expertise, sourcing best practices, leverages industry knowledge about facilities services market to identify and deliver on savings/improvement opportunities for FedEx

  • Ability to quickly develop industry knowledge and expertise of the facilities services industries

  • Develops new approaches to benchmarking, synthesizing information from disparate sources (internal and external)

  • Challenges traditional ways of working throughout the process

  • Identifies potential cost-savings opportunities using Total Cost of Ownership approach

  • Financial acumen and understanding of Total Cost of Ownership

  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification would be a plus

  • Professional exempt experience in category management or contract/supplier management


Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in science / arts or equivalent in business analysis, strategic management, marketing, or other analytical field; degree in supply chain, logistics, finance, mathematics, or other quantitative discipline preferred.

Minimum Experience

Minimum four (4) years work experience in sourcing, financial analysis, or related field, a related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of project management, current technology tools/advances, and database/analytical tools. Adept at forecasting long-term market trends. Possess comprehensive knowledge of market dynamics and category/product lifecycle. Proficiency with cost analysis, Coupa, and Power BI Dashboard preferred. Proficiency in applying financial principles and data to complex business decisions. Excellent interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence and basic conflict resolution. Strong written and oral communication skills.

Additional Details: This hybrid position will be domiciled in Memphis,TN , Pittsburgh,PA or Plano,TX reporting to MD Quincy McGlown. Compensation Grade: FEC_E26. Relocation assistance may be provided based on business needs.
