The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. Position Summary
The Student Services Assistant will be responsible for student wellness and tracking student performance from admission to graduation. Responsibilities include obtaining statements from "at-risk" students regarding reason for low GPA, steps that will be taken for improvement, and commitment to maintaining a 3.0 GPA in the program at the time of admission.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Sending out welcome packages after admission, sending out communications regarding graduation and commencement, and organizing the commencement celebration along with program staff.
  • Ensuring that student headshots are obtained in a timely manner, soon after admission, and a class composite is developed and posted on the class eLC page for maintaining a sense of community.
  • Working with the director and the Grad school for readmitting students, academic honesty issues, tuition payment issues, checking for TA ships for students who live close to campus, checking for scholarships, and notifying students.

  • Obtaining a statement from "at-risk students regarding the reason for low GPA, steps that will be taken for improvement, and commitment to maintaining a 3.0 GPA in the program at the time of admission.
  • Setting up meetings with the director or appropriate instructors for exam review in the case of poor performance in exams.
