SUMMARY

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Compensation Analyst I to support the administration and analysis of compensation programs across a diverse workforce, including hourly, production, and construction-based roles. This role focuses on foundational compensation activities such as market pricing, job evaluations, salary survey participation, and support of the annual compensation cycle. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills and a desire to grow within the field of compensation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Market Pricing & Benchmarking
    • Support market pricing for salaried and hourly roles, including production and construction positions, using salary survey data.
    • Maintain and update compensation databases and tools.
  • Job Evaluation & Maintenance
    • Assist in evaluating new and existing roles across corporate, hourly, production, and field-based workforces for appropriate leveling and pay ranges.
    • Help maintain job descriptions and job architecture documentation.
  • Survey Participation
    • Assist with compensation survey participation by collecting and submitting accurate data for salaried and hourly populations.
    • Support analysis of survey results to inform compensation decisions.
  • Annual Compensation Cycle
    • Support the annual merit and bonus planning process, including hourly and non-exempt employee groups.
    • Prepare compensation reports and summaries for HR and business leaders.
  • Compensation Reporting & Analysis
    • Generate standard reports to monitor internal alignment, market competitiveness, and pay practices across employee groups.
    • Assist with audits and compliance reporting related to hourly pay practices as needed.
  • Stakeholder Support
    • Provide compensation data and guidance to HR business partners and recruiters supporting production and construction teams.
    • Respond to compensation-related inquiries from internal stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in compensation, HR analytics, or a related field (internships or co-op experience may be considered).
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with HRIS or compensation systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with HR and business partners.
  • Exposure to compensation tools such as MarketPay, Payfactors, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Experience or interest in supporting hourly, production, or construction-based workforces.

The base pay range for this role is $69,900 - $104,900. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
