Job Summary

Responsible for managing federal and state income tax compliance, tax accounting, and reporting requirements. The Director oversees income tax audits, planning initiatives, and regulatory filings and testimony related to income tax matters.

Essential Functions

  • Manage and oversee external accounting firm income tax deliverables, performance, and billings under the department's managed service agreement.
  • Oversee income tax accounting and reporting associated with SEC, FERC, and other regulatory filings.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage federal and state uncertain tax positions.
  • Coordinate with Strategic and Financial Planning teams on projections of effective tax rate and cash taxes.
  • Manage SOX 404 internal controls, processes, and testing related to income tax.
  • Mitigate reporting risk by strengthening controls and implementing efficient processes.
  • Evaluate the impact of new tax accounting standards and significant transactions with management and advisors.
  • Identify prudent tax planning opportunities that drive measurable tax benefits.
  • Partner with the Director of Tax Planning & Controversy on legislation, audits, tax planning, and regulatory matters.
  • Manage all U.S. federal and state income tax compliance obligations.
  • Participate in ratemaking proceedings for regulated operations.
  • Develop collaborative relationships across the Finance organization.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff.
  • Foster a highperformance culture within the Tax department.
  • Serve as an active member of electric and natural gas utility industry associations.

Education Description

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.

Experience

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of domestic income tax experience including accounting, compliance, and planning.
  • State income tax experience strongly preferred.
