Lam is excited to have an opening in the Supply Chain Engineering organization working at the crossroads of New Product Introduction (partnering with R&D) and Productization (working with internal Lam development and Program management teams, and partnering with outside suppliers).

In order to maintain and improve our leadership in Etch and Deposition Semiconductor Equipment, Lam is constantly innovating in advanced packaging with a variety of techniques, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to exert broad influence in the development of those novel systems.

What you'll do

We are looking for a passionate multi-disciplinary individual with expertise in the different areas below:

  • Expertise in Additive Manufacturing
  • Familiarity with PVD Coatings and Electro-chemical plating processes
  • Electrical assembly design for manufacturing (DFM)
  • Systems Engineering basics: general knowledge in
    • Electro-mechanical assembly and component integration
    • Calibration and test process best practices
    • How to apply FW/SW/Communications & Controls in complex device operations
  • Experience specifying and qualifying automated assembly and test equipment
  • Training in 8D & LSS problem solving methods used to improve assembly throughput, reduce unit-to-unit variation, and improve first pass yields
  • Having the ability to perform Program/Project Management tasks will also be helpful to operate in this team environment, working on a variety of high-impact projects. Independent thinking and self-motivation, agility and good people skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Experience in the Semiconductor Equipment field and some knowledge of (or ability to learn) power/plasma interactions are a big plus.
  • There will be also the opportunity to work directly with Lam Suppliers and Lam Product Groups on advanced designs that enable differentiated semiconductor tool technology.
Who we're looking for
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accredited Engineering Program (Masters/PhD preferred)
  • >10 years experience with additive manufacturing factory processes.
  • Apply skills and experience with semiconductor manufacturing and equipment to technical and quality problems encountered in the product life cycle with special attention to new product introduction
  • Automated Assembly and Test Fixture management is key: proper specification and qualification of electrical assemblies is essential for successful up-time, assembly consistency, accurate calibration, and high first pass yields. Partnering with our design team and the suppliers to design,implement and maintain state-of-the-art assembly and test fixtures is fundamental to success. Test qualification, gauge studies (GR&R, MSA), SPC management plan, preventative maintenance, etc. are critical to a successful outcome.
  • Apply Product and Systems Engineering approaches to understand and resolve problems with equipment functionality, component quality and reliability, design and application margin, and supplier quality systems
  • Travel to Lam and Lam supplier manufacturing locations to conduct effective situation assessments, audits and investigations and Apply findings to implement systematic and lasting improvements to product and process. (Travel could be as high as 50%.)
  • Apply experience with Industrial Quality Systems, Engineering Design & Documentation, Product Qualification, Change (EC) Processes and Problem Solving to issues occurring in product and component life cycles
  • Perform Program/Project and Supplier Management roles with emphasis on problem-solving analysis and improvements in manufacturing and test processes. Definition, review and improvement of Supplier's Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA), Supplier's Quality Systems and Processes of Record (POR)

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
