Special Education Teacher

A Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities to help them achieve academic, social, and behavioral success. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with federal and state regulations. The teacher collaborates with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications within the learning environment.

Key responsibilities include assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, adapting curriculum materials, and using evidence-based instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs. The Special Education Teacher also promotes inclusive practices and fosters a safe, supportive classroom that encourages student independence and confidence.

In addition, the teacher participates in Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, communicates regularly with parents and guardians, and ensures compliance with all applicable special education laws and district policies. Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills are essential for success in this role.
