Position Summary

The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at the Columbia University Medical Center would like to recruit a Technician B to work in the lab of Dr. Andrew Teich. Our lab focuses on Alzheimer's disease, but through multiple collaborations we also have projects that address other neurodegenerative diseases of aging. Familiarity with the Linux environment and experience analyzing data using R is required, and proficiency with Matlab and Python is highly desirable. Candidates with prior experience working with genomic data are preferred. However, we are open to considering highly qualified candidates with a bachelor's degree in mathematics or computer science who may have minimal experience working with biological data but are highly motivated and meet the basic requirements listed above. Our laboratory is a wet/dry lab that does both experimental work as well as computational analysis of genome and genomic expression data. The job candidate would thus have the opportunity to work in an integrated environment and further their exposure to experimental "wet-lab" science. The PI is also the Director of the New York Brain Bank, and this serves as a resource both for our research as well as for the education of laboratory members in neurodegenerative disease biology.
