Job Summary

UC Davis Health is seeking an Audiologist to provide patient-centered audiologic care to a diverse population at our Natomas location. This role focuses primarily on diagnostic audiology and hearing aid services, with opportunities to practice across a broad clinical scope in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting.

The Audiologist will perform comprehensive diagnostic hearing evaluations and fit and program hearing aids and bone conduction devices from multiple manufacturers. The position may also include vestibular assessments, electrophysiological testing, cochlear implant evaluation and programming, and tinnitus evaluation and management. The incumbent will apply knowledge of ear disorders to support appropriate medical referrals and counsel patients on individualized hearing treatment options.

This role provides direct patient care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and assigned work locations and schedules. Current students completing their Required Professional Experience (RPE) year are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Perform comprehensive diagnostic audiologic evaluations.
* Fit, program, and manage hearing aids and bone conduction devices.
* Identify hearing disorders and make appropriate medical referrals.
* Counsel patients on hearing treatment options, including tinnitus.
* Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary clinical teams.
* Participate in vestibular and electrophysiological testing as applicable.
* Preferred experience with implantable devices, including bone-anchored hearing systems and cochlear implants.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload a license and/or certification if required for the position

  • Licensed Audiologist (AU) -California State Dispensing Audiologist License (DAU) or eligible for CA state licensure
  • Au.D, or Master's, or Ph.D. in Audiology
  • Professional knowledge and clinical experience necessary to evaluate hearing in a diverse patient population, with emphasis on the pediatric population
  • Professional education and clinical experience necessary to interpret audiologic evaluations, assess individual patients' needs for services, including amplification, and select appropriate amplification
  • Ability to operate audiologic equipment, including, but not limited to, two-channel audiometers, middle ear analyzers, otoacoustic emissions equipment, hearing aid analyzers, ABR/ASSR equipment, and newborn hearing screening devices
  • Professional knowledge and clinical experience necessary to dispense hearing aids and provide ancillary hearing aid-related services
  • Familiarity with current hearing aids and assistive listening devices, including programmable/digital hearing aids and associated fitting software
  • Ability to assess aided hearing performance using real ear measurements, electroacoustic analysis, and functional gain measurements, as well as the knowledge to interpret results
  • Ability to make earmold impressions and determine appropriate earmold and custom shell designs
  • Knowledge and skill necessary to perform in-office repairs and modifications on earmolds and hearing aids
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and their families
  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other health care providers
  • Commitment to continuing professional education to maintain a high level of expertise in audiology and hearing aid dispensing
  • Organizational skills necessary to maintain accurate records related to patient care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of professional audiology experience
  • Professional knowledge and clinical experience necessary to evaluate hearing in a diverse patient population, with emphasis on the pediatric population
  • Professional education and clinical experience necessary to interpret audiologic evaluations, assess individual patients' needs for services, including amplification, and select appropriate amplification

Department Overview

The Department of Audiology provides specialized expertise in auditory and vestibular care, using the latest medical technologies and treatment approaches to support excellent patient outcomes for patients of all ages. The department works closely with Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery to evaluate and manage pre- and post-surgical patients. Services include comprehensive audiologic and vestibular evaluations; implantable device evaluation, programming, and management; hearing aid and assistive listening device dispensing and support; and OSHA-required hearing screenings.
