Utilizing the nursing process in the planning and delivery of care, the Registered Nurse complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies, and maintains a safe level of knowledge and skills with technical procedures.

The Breast Clinic Nurse will be responsible for: completing regular biopsychosocial assessments and care plans with patients; communicating and collaborating with multidisciplinary disease teams to ensure coordination of care for patients; providing education to patients/families regarding treatment plans, medications, advance directives, appointments and so forth; developing collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary team members and referring patients/families to other members of the care team as appropriate; documentation in accordance with program standards; participating in evaluation of program outcomes.

This position will assist with chemotherapy patient teaching and coordination of services related to breast cancer diagnosis and treatment planning according to UCSD policies and procedures.

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

• RN License issued by the State of California.

• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

• A minimum of two (2) years of surgical or oncology experience.

• A minimum of six (6) or more months of experience in breast surgery/oncology (within the last two years).

• Demonstrates exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.

• Strong critical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities to assess moderately complex problems and develop potential solutions quickly.

• BSN/MSN.
• OCN or CBCN certification
• ACLS and/or ART.

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
• May travel between the locations of Hillcrest, Moores Cancer Center, and Koman Outpatient Pavilion.

Selected candidates may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
