Location: San Jose, CA, United States

About the Role

Changing the world through digital experiences is what Adobe's all about. We give everyone-from emerging artists to global brands-everything they need to design and deliver exceptional digital experiences! We're passionate about empowering people to create beautiful and powerful images, videos, and apps, and transform how companies interact with customers across every screen.

We're on a mission to hire the very best. We are committed to creating exceptional employee experiences where everyone is respected and has equal opportunity. We believe new ideas can come from anywhere in the organization, and the next big idea could be yours!

At Adobe, this commitment extends inward as well-empowering our own teams with powerful digital tools and insights to drive creativity, collaboration, and impact at scale. We are seeking a motivated Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in building and scaling an internal advanced benchmark and analytics platform. This high-impact platform delivers real-time insights, customizable dashboards, interactive visualizations, and robust reporting-empowering data-driven decisions and unlocking new levels of innovation across the organization.

This role involves direct management and growth of a cross-functional engineering team. The current team comprises Frontend UI/UX Engineers using Vue.js and Backend Engineers with Node.js and Fastify, utilizing ClickHouse, Redis, and Azure Container Apps. You will balance hands-on technical support with leading the team and overseeing delivery. You will collaborate closely with product, design, data, and business team members. It is a great chance for a strong full-stack engineer ready to transition into management. You will gain support and mentorship while building key leadership skills and advancing the platform into a stable, high-performance base for Adobe's internal users.

The ideal candidate has solid full-stack expertise (frontend + backend) and experience with data-intensive applications. They are eager to grow into people management and employ modern AI coding tools to increase team productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and support a high-performing engineering team. Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance discussions, and career growth conversations. Build a collaborative, inclusive team culture with guidance from senior leadership.
  • Guide technical architecture and design decisions for the platform tracking critical metrics. Stay hands-on when necessary with frontend (Vue.js), backend (Node.js + Fastify), data layer (ClickHouse, Redis), and deployment (Azure Container Apps).
  • Partner with product managers to define and complete the engineering roadmap. Prioritize features, address technical debt, improve performance and scalability, and enhance reliability to deliver business value.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, design sessions, and technical planning to uphold high standards of code quality, maintainability, security, and performance.
  • Champion guidelines in software development, including testing, CI/CD, observability, and secure cloud deployments (e.g., VNet integration in Azure).
  • Support and exemplify efficient use of AI-based coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude/Claude Code) to hasten development, refactoring, and innovation-while reviewing outputs carefully.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners (product, UX/design, data analysts, DevOps, business collaborators) to turn requirements into engineering plans, remove blockers, and deliver iteratively.
  • Track team velocity, quality metrics, and system health; facilitate retrospectives and drive continuous improvement with support from leadership.
  • Handle sprint/quarter planning, resource coordination, risk identification, and delivery commitments for platform work.
  • Remain informed about progress in Vue.js, Node.js/Fastify, analytics databases (ClickHouse), caching (Redis), container platforms (Azure Container Apps), AI-assisted development, and data trends to support team decisions.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong hands-on work in frontend and backend technologies (e.g., Vue.js or similar modern JS frameworks + Node.js/TypeScript).
  • Prior technical leadership experience (e.g., tech lead, project lead, mentoring juniors, or owning major features/systems), with readiness and enthusiasm to transition into direct people management.
  • Experience contributing to full-stack delivery in production, ideally with data-heavy or analytics applications (e.g., dashboards, important metrics, observability tools). Familiarity with high-performance APIs, analytical databases (e.g., ClickHouse or similar OLAP), caching (e.g., Redis), and container platforms (e.g., Azure Container Apps or Kubernetes concepts) is a plus.
  • Practical experience working with AI-driven coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude/Claude Code) in everyday tasks, and enthusiasm for supporting the group in integrating them efficiently.
  • Solid understanding of contemporary software approaches: agile methods, CI/CD, testing (unit/integration/E2E), observability, and secure cloud deployments (Azure preferred).
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities; capable of working alongside product, design, and non-technical colleagues to align engineering with business objectives.
  • Demonstrated potential for people leadership: mentoring others, giving feedback, and contributing to team culture.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and comfort navigating ambiguity in evolving, data-focused platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with internal tools, enterprise analytics/benchmark systems, or B2E platforms.
  • Familiarity with real-time data, event streaming, or OLAP workloads.
  • Exposure to Azure services (Container Apps, VNet, Monitor) and IaC (Bicep/Terraform).
  • Background in frontend data visualization, backend optimization, or AI-assisted workflows.
  • Previous mentoring or informal leadership in scaling features or small projects.
What We Offer
  • Leadership of a high-visibility internal platform that influences organizational decisions.
  • Opportunity to grow as a manager in a supportive, innovative environment with mentorship from senior leaders.
  • Hands-on technical involvement while developing people-leadership skills.
  • Competitive salary and benefits packages.

We value diverse perspectives and encourage all qualified individuals to apply-especially those excited to take their first step into engineering management.

This role is ideal for a technical leader passionate about data platforms, full-stack development, and people growth. It requires guiding a dedicated team to deliver a world-class platform focused on important metrics. The role also involves using modern tools like AI assistants and developing foundational management skills.
