Shift Lead Operator

Job Responsibilities

Leads the shift process operations to ensure that work is carried out in accordance with the organization's policies, applicable laws, and Customer demand. Primary responsibilities include leading and monitoring the performance of all processes to safely meet production and quality targets; coordinating on-shift activities to maximize efficiencies of resources; communicating with all on-shift staff to ensure all required activities are completed in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.

  • Follows and encourages others to follow all organizational safety rules and practices.

  • Fosters & maintains a positive work environment.

  • Performs basic tasks interacting with pumps, pipes, valves, and HMIs to prepare and charge material into the manufacturing batch process.

  • Ability to operate a forklift to load/unload trailers and transport materials.

  • Performs basic lab testing.

  • Count and report inventory daily and assist monthly inventory counts.

  • Ability to follow and perform lock out tag out (LOTO) for maintenance work on equipment.

  • Maintain work area in a clean, organized, and safe environment.

  • Maintain accurate records including batch sheets, lab data entries, and shift turnover documents.

  • Recommends methods to improve production methods and equipment.

  • Ability to assist others in troubleshooting problems.

  • Follows and encourages others to follow all organizational safety rules and practices.

  • Delegate and direct all production tasks throughout the shift.

  • Ability to utilize all plant wide personnel to complete task at hand.

  • Ability to understand production needs of entire plant and help schedule the workload demands.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications/ Requirements

  • 1-3 years of Chemical/Operations plant experience while being able to demonstrate the desire and aptitude to take responsibility for leading 2-5 personnel on shift.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Basic computer literacy.

  • Ability to resolve conflict and set priorities is desirable.

  • Dependability and Punctuality are key ingredients to be successful in this position.
