Job Summary
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate). Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team. The RN functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team caring for patients undergoing procedures or exams in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (CCL) and/or Cardiology Department at any site. The RN carries out established nursing procedures to prepare patients prior to Radiologic procedures, during the procedure, and following the procedure. The RN assists with the management of patient care during moderate sedation and anesthesia cases. The Cardiac Cath Lab department requires a dedicated professional who is committed to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Minimum 5 years RN experience in an acute care hospital, one of which is a year of recent experience in critical care with demonstrated knowledge of homodynamic monitoring. One (1) year of directly relatable RN employment experience in Cardiac Electrophysiology lab, Interventional Radiology (IR) or Cardiac Catheterization lab; and
- 3 years combined experience in PACU, ICU, CCU, and/ or Cath Lab.
- Provide direct patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization lab and Cardiology Department during all phases of the patient care experience (pre procedural, intraprocedural, and post procedural).
- The ability to wear a lead apron required in Interventional Radiology and Neuro Interventional Radiology or
- Diagnostic Radiology.
- Monitor patient conditions and vital signs before, during, and after procedures.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Educate patients and their families about procedures, care plans, and recovery processes.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in on-call and late stay shifts as required.
- Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be well organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently and under pressure.
- Basic computer keyboard skills and general PC knowledge.
- Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN
- Previous RN experience with Pre and Post Procedure Care of Adult Interventional Cardiology patients.
- Previous RN experience in Adult Cardiac Catheterization Labs.
- RCIS and/or RCES certification.
License/Certification
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
