DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Equity & Equal Protection (EEP) Office is responsible for the administration of UC Santa Cruz's policies, procedures, and programs regarding discrimination and harassment on the basis of all protected categories outlined in the UC Systemwide Anti-Discrimination Policy (AD Policy), the UC Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy (SVSH Policy), and other related policies. EEP also oversees Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and serves as the campus investigative unit supporting UC Whistleblower policies and other programs.
Our work includes stewarding complaint processes for students, staff, and faculty who have experienced discrimination and harassment and ensuring that members of our community can engage in protected activity free from retaliation. We are responsible for the University's compliance with state and federal laws relating to discrimination and harassment to ensure that no member of our community is denied participation in an academic program or employment based upon a protected identity or engaging in protected activity.
The EEP Office of the University of California, Santa Cruz is charged with ensuring University compliance with all Title IX related policies and procedures by responding to all campus Title IX complaints and reports. The EEP Office facilitates alternative resolutions and conducts formal investigations of complaints and reports filed by students, employees, and the public.

JOB SUMMARY
The position provides education, training, and programmatic support to advance the goals of EEP across the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) community. The role supports outreach and engagement efforts, assists with the coordination and delivery of education and training initiatives, and contributes to program operations. The position also supports administrative operations by assessing, triaging, and routing inquiries and requests to ensure timely and appropriate response and service.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
Budgeted Salary: $85,550/annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.

JOB DUTIES
30% - Education & Training Support
- Supports the development, coordination, and delivery of evidence-based prevention education programs, initiatives, strategies, and outreach campaigns addressing sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation within the scope of EEP, with related diversity and inclusion topics addressed as assigned.
- Contributes content and provides logistical and programmatic support for campus Title IX and EEO training, working under the direction of the Title IX and EEO Directors and in collaboration with EEP staff.
- Assists in the coordination and delivery of education and training for students, staff, and faculty on the SVSH Policy, AD Policy, applicable procedures, and relevant laws, regulations, and university policies.
- Supports the development and maintenance of annual and/or quarterly training plans to ensure campus stakeholders receive required education and training.
- Prepares training materials, presentations, and educational resources; gathers feedback and assists in evaluating training effectiveness.
- Participates on the UCSC Sexual Violence and Harassment, Anti-Discrimination, Prevention and Education (SHAPE) Training committee and helps facilitate implementation of SHAPE Training for the campus.
20% - Program Support
- Works with members of the UCSC community to promote the goals of EEP.
- Coordinates with other offices to facilitate investigation and post-investigation processes, including ensuring appropriate documentation is shared.
- Meets with Response Team and Intake Coordinators to review and analyze statistical data and identify trends and areas of focus related to sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, and retaliation. In consultation with the Directors, uses data to develop and prioritize initiatives that address campus community needs.
- Collaborates with campus partners to identify and provide safety and supportive measures to mitigate negative impacts of sexual misconduct, discrimination, or harassment for individual members of the campus community as needed.
- Conducts database reviews to ensure compliance with state and federal laws in hiring of employees, resident assistants, and NCAA athletes.
- Updates and closes cases in the database of record.
- Participates in campus-wide and system-wide workgroups in support of Title IX and EEO projects and initiatives.
50% - Title IX and EEO Programs Coordination and Administration
- Assesses and triages incoming emails, telephone calls, and reports and responds accordingly.
- Facilitates meaningful referrals following report assessment.
- Provides information about available resources to campus community as needed.
- Assists with drafting, updating, and maintaining the organization's website content.
- Develops and implements procedures for supply inventory to ensure equipment is operational and appropriately maintained. Manages shared staff calendars for EEP meetings, holidays, staff vacations, and shared conference rooms.
- Assists with the review and processing of contracts and service agreements for independent contractors (e.g., investigators, Hearing and Appeal Officers) in coordination with appropriate campus units.
- Provides administrative and logistical support for complaints, including document tracking, timing, reminders, and coordination of response processes.
- Coordinates facilities and space, including submission of IT service requests, ordering supplies and furniture, tracking maintenance schedules, and supporting space modification requests.
- Prepares, submits, and reconciles expense reports on behalf of Title IX Director and Director of EEO in accordance with campus and UC Policies.
- On behalf of the unit, coordinates and participates in a variety of human resources activities, including recruitment support, onboarding, training coordination, ensuring timely completion of required compliance training, and ensuring the completion of forms and documents related to HR and Payroll.
- Manages calendars and provides project coordination support for the Title IX Director and Director of EEO; prepares routine confidential reports and assists with research, compilation, and summarization of information for briefings and meetings.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience and/or training
- Experience with highly confidential situations, and ability to exercise discretion and interact effectively, productively and sensitively with students, faculty and external constituencies.
- Including knowledge of federal regulations such as Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Intermediate knowledge of the ethics and compliance function.
- Thorough knowledge of common computer applications including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Effective written communication skills.
- Skills in seeking more information and asking questions when assignments are unclear.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with the university's processes, protocols and procedures.
- Familiarity with policies and procedures related to discrimination, whistleblower and gender based violence and how they are utilized on a university campus.
- Experience with data management and communications software, specifically Simplicity and/or iSight.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Legal aid, and/or legal services experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Selected candidate will be required to complete training within established time frames as directed including UC compliance training.
- Ability to work long periods of time at a computer with or without accommodation.
- The selected candidate will be required to work a hybrid work schedule and must be able to work successfully from a home/remote office and fulfill the requirements of the UCSC telecommuting agreement.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as directed.
- Selected candidate will be required to complete training within established time frames as directed including UC compliance training.
