Ever-Green Energy is looking for a team member responsible for the critical operating activities of heat pumps, chillers, water treatment, issue response/troubleshooting, and repair and maintenance of plant equipment and facilities. The Operating Engineer will work with a high degree of autonomy in conducting daily activities in the plant. The Operating Engineer will conduct preventive and repair maintenance and will support maintenance service contractors and vendors by supervising their conduct of the work, facilitating preparation of the equipment for safe work execution (lockout/tagout), access to the facility, and assistance with support services and utilities needed for work execution. Minimum requirements to be successful in this role:

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in the operation and repair of chillers, heat pumps, cooling towers, electric drives, pumps, and related equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct others and to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Able to work with standard tools and equipment.
  • Valid driver's license required and clear driving record.

Preferred Requirements:

  • NASOE (National Association of Stationary Operating Engineers) license, or ASOPE (American Society of Power Engineers) Power Plant Operating Engineer, or equivalent experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for all water treatment activities (monitoring, testing, logging and adjusting) while on duty.
  1. Responsible for operation of the cooling system and/or heating system including routine checks, startup/shutdown, and adjustment to meet customer load conditions and for dispatch of and checkout of off-site facilities as needed.
  1. Perform manual data collection as needed to support Key Performance Indicator tracking and regulatory compliance obligations.
  1. Perform housekeeping as specified in the facility Housekeeping Plan or assigned by supervisor.
  1. Perform lubrication where required and on schedule specified by the preventive maintenance program.
  1. Respond to off-normal conditions at the production facility, distribution network, or customer buildings to assess and address the situation and work toward resolution of any issues.
  1. Perform maintenance and repair of any and all equipment and facilities as directed and perform minor maintenance walkthroughs for the purpose of repairing minor maintenance items. Document items found but not repaired on a Work Order.
  1. Respond to off-hour conditions that require response through participation in the rotating on-call arrangement.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.
  1. Perform all obligations and above functions in a safe and efficient manner.

The incumbent is frequently required to climb ramps/stairs; keyboarding; near vision acuity at approximately 20 inches or less; sitting; and standing/walking.

The employee is occasionally required to climbing ladders/ropes/scaffolding; crawling; crouching; far visual acuity at 20 feet or more; fine manipulation of picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in gross manipulation; gross manipulation of seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand(s); foot/leg controls; kneeling, lifting and carrying of 50 lbs., peripheral vision; pushing; pulling, reaching at/below shoulder level by extending hand and arms from 0 up to 150 degrees in a vertical arc; reaching overhead by extending hands and arms in a 150 to 180 degrees vertical arc; stooping; confined space with limited entry or exit.

This position involves working in a steam, hot water, and/or chilled water plant and/or its distribution system. While performing job duties, employees may occasionally encounter potential hazards, including fumes, airborne particles, high-pressure steam in piping or equipment, both hot and cold temperatures, and hazards associated with moving machinery. The work environment's noise level typically ranges from moderate to loud. Other potential hazards common to heating and cooling plants may include confined spaces, slippery surfaces, rotating equipment, chemical handling (e.g., water treatment chemicals), and burns. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and physical controls are in place as needed to mitigate these risks.

The hourly range for this position is: $39.18 to $44.05.

This range reflects the base salary for this position.
